Join us in the Quad, Thursday, August 29 from 5-9 p.m. for Fall Get On Board Day, UA’s signature involvement fair. Come out to meet UA student organizations, departments, and community vendors.

Get On Board Day (GOBD) is a major tradition of campus involvement held at The University of Alabama each fall and spring. GOBD serves as a springboard for any student who wishes to get more actively engaged with campus by connecting our students to hundreds of organizations, community vendors, and departments housed on the UA campus.

During GOBD, each organization sets up a display table where they provide a snapshot of what their organization is all about. We encourage students attending GOBD to explore the entire event. We encourage students to come prepared to talk and meet new people. Don’t be a wallflower when you visit organization tables! Engage them and ask questions. You are shopping for resources for your future!

Fall Get On Board Day will take place in the UA Quad.

Fall Get On Board Day 2024

Thursday, August 29, 2024

5-9 p.m.

Navigating GOBD

The full list of participating student organizations, campus departments, and community vendors will posted as we get closer to the event.

As students go through GOBD, we encourage them to sign up for many opportunities. However, to maximize the involvement experience and give your most to both the co-curricular and academic, we encourage students to consider three things:

  • Academics – Join an organization that will help you gain skills that can be used in your chosen profession.
  • Out the box – Join an organization that moves you out of your comfort zone. Maybe it is something you have never engaged in or always wanted to try, but just didn’t.
  • Explore your passions – Join an organization that speaks to a deep passion or hobby that you have.

After GOBD

At the end of your GOBD experience, student organizations will contact you about opportunities to get engaged with their organization.

To further help you find a good student organization fit, we have a great complementary event happening after GOBD called Organization Take Over (OTO).

Accommodations

If you are a student in need of accommodations, please contact our office at 205-348-6114 or uainvolvement@ua.edu at least two weeks before the event so that we can discuss any needs with you. Thank you!
